Hospice of Chattanooga to host Healing Hearts Grief Camp for Children, Sept. 15

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Aug. 16, 2018) – Hospice of Chattanooga is accepting applications for Healing Hearts, a one-day camp on Saturday, Sept. 15, designed to help children, ages 5 to 12, share their experiences following the death of a relative or close friend.

Hospice of Chattanooga staff and volunteers, all of whom are experienced and specially trained in the grieving process, will offer unconditional love and a safe environment where young people can freely express emotions that many of their peers might not understand.

Using the theme "Remember Me," this free program will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, 8645 East Brainerd Road. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the camp last from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Parking and program are free and open to anyone child in the community who has experienced death.

Healing Hearts camp activities include art, music, pets and playtime. Lunch is provided. Any required medications must be given to camp medical personnel at check-in. Please apply sunscreen before arriving at camp.

Hospice of Chattanooga will also host a special adult support session from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. on camp day. This time is designed to help adults understand their child’s grief and talk about their own.

Organizers urge applicants to register now, as space is limited. Application deadline is Sept. 1.
