Anne Barron, M.D.

If you ask Dr. Anne Barron why she chose to become a hospice physician, the answer is simple. She believes in providing personalized care. Hospice allows Dr. Barron to treat more than the patient’s medical needs. She can also help resolve complex spiritual and emotional issues associated with the end-of-life.

“People often misunderstand what we do,” explains Dr. Barron. “It’s not about death, but rather about the life left to live. At Hospice of Chattanooga, we focus on managing pain and controlling disease symptoms to ensure the patient’s remaining weeks and months are as meaningful as possible.”

Hospice of Chattanooga is the region’s largest not-for-profit hospice provider. Dr. Barron believes that makes a huge difference in the quality of care each patient receives. “It doesn’t matter how much money a patient has or doesn’t have or if that patient has insurance benefits,” says Dr. Barron. “All of our patients are treated equally and that is how medicine should be.”

Dr. Barron is a graduate of the Medical School of Louisiana State University. She is board certified in both internal medicine and hospice and palliative medicine. She and her husband have two children, who keep them very busy.
