Volunteer Job Description
The Office Support Volunteer is a person who has an interest in
helping at the Hospice of Chattanooga office in many different
capacities
Typical services provided by office support volunteers are:
- typing mailing labels and sending paperwork to doctors (medical
records);
- handwriting sympathy cards (admissions department);
- assembling admission books (medical records);
- stuffing and labeling large mailings (marketing);
- putting together marketing packets (marketing);
- sorting files in medical director's office;
- filing materials in the finance department.
Skills and Training:
Office Support Volunteers
- do not have to complete the Hospice Training Course, but are
encouraged to do so if they will have a better understanding of
hospice;
- have desire to be helpful.
Time Commitment:
Hospices of Chattanooga volunteers are encouraged to;
- volunteer at least once a week for 2-4 hours (this is a guideline,
but may differ according to office needs);
- attend a one-hour continuing education class per month --last
Tuesday of each month, usually at the Hospice of Chattanooga office;
- sign up to help with one Hospice of Chattanooga Memorial Service
each year.
Supervision:
- The volunteer Coordinator is your main supervisor and will act as
a liaison between you and the staff person you are helping in the
office;
- The Volunteer Coordinator received the Volunteer's monthly
activity report (Day Sheet-- due by the 10th day of the following
month);
